Why you need Responsive Web Design

Recently Facebook decided that it wanted to redesign the infamous “Like” button. A seemingly simple task, that in reality took over 280 hours to design. Why? Because Facebook is used by over 1/6th of humanity, and this button had to work in multiple languages, across all browsers and on a variety of devices. The button is seen over 22 billion times a day, making it one of the most-viewed design elements ever created.

Whilst these numbers are surprising, it serves to highlight the importance of creating user friendly websites that work on all platforms. Page views from Non-PC devices reached an all-time high with nearly 1/3 of all UK page views now from smartphones and tablets.

This is why we focus on responsive web design, meaning your website doesn’t just just shrink to fit, but adapts and collapses as necessary to the device on which it is being viewed.

The amount and variety of different devices people own is increasing, and with the growth of wearable tech, it looks likely to continue to expand. So making sure your website is built on a responsive framework is becoming more and more vital.
